The futuristic Pallone armchair by designer Roy de Scheemaker not only launched his career -- but became the most famous chair by the Dutch firm Leolux. Designed in 1989 for the Netherland's House of the Future: a project with lots of high-tech gimmicks to give the Dutch a look forward. Twenty years later, Pallone has become an icon in the Leolux collection. A mini-version of the 3-legged chair that sits like riding in a Porsche (Puppy Pallone) and an outdoor version (outdoor Pallone) of Pallone are also available.
To commemorate Leolux's 75th year, the Pallone is available through June 2010 in limited edition, retailing in the US for about $2500. Amsterdam-based trends expert Christiane Muëller chose 11 color combinations for the series -- each chair made of three luxury leathers. Customers may also custom choose their own colors from a selection of 45 for an additional fee.
